Helping you thrive at work, at study and in your life
I’m Sarah, a qualified BACP-registered counsellor with a special focus on workplace and academic wellbeing.
I offer in-person appointments in central Cambridge and Girton, as well as online sessions internationally.
Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed by constant pressure — whether from work, studies, or life or career transitions.
Counselling with me is a chance to pause, reflect, and reset. Together, we can work to untangle what’s been happening beneath the surface, so you can find clarity, balance, and a stronger sense of self.

What issues I work with
I specialise in supporting people with workplace stress, academic pressures, career transitions, and the challenges of maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Stress, burnout, and overwhelm
Academic pressure and perfectionism
Anxiety and panic attacks
Career and life transitions: career change, promotion, redundancy, retirement, quarter- or mid-life crisis
Workplace issues: team dynamics, bullying, mistakes at work
Loss of direction, motivation or purpose
Impostor syndrome, low confidence and self-worth
Personal issues affecting your work or studies
Most of us spend a considerable amount of time either working or studying and sometimes when pressures build, it can feel hard to admit how much we’re struggling.
Confiding in a boss, supervisor, or even family member isn’t always possible, so stress, anxiety, or burnout are often carried alone until they start to impact negatively on wellbeing, motivation, and relationships.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or unsure how to move forward, counselling can give you space to make sense of what’s happening.
How counselling with me can help
Understanding of workplace and academic pressures
Over the past twenty years, I’ve worked across a variety of sectors and seen just how deeply work and study can affect wellbeing. Long hours, overwhelming workloads, toxic environments, and constant change can all chip away at mental health and self-esteem. In my counselling practice, I’ve supported professionals from many different industries, as well as postgraduate and undergraduate students, each carrying their own unique pressures.
Support for your unique challenges Stress, anxiety, and burnout can affect us at any point in life. You might be a student juggling deadlines and perfectionism, a professional feeling depleted by constant demands, or someone at a crossroads facing uncertainty around promotion, career change or redundancy. I tailor my support to meet you where you are.
A calm space where you can be yourself
Counselling with me offers a calm, confidential space where you can slow down, reflect and explore what’s going on for you. Clients often tell me it’s the first time they’ve felt able to talk openly about the pressure they’re under, and the relief of being truly heard can itself be transformative.
Embedding lasting change
Many of the people I work with go on to regain a healthier work-life balance, reconnect with their values, find purpose and fulfilment and a clearer sense of direction. They often describe feeling more confident in setting boundaries, less overwhelmed by stress, and better able to navigate challenges both at work, in their studies and at home.
How I work
I am a talk therapist who seeks to understand you, your values and your unique circumstances. I aim to create an open atmosphere and build a relationship of trust where you feel able to express whatever is on your mind.
Our work is collaborative - I am not here to offer solutions but am keen to find ways to support and challenge you towards greater insight of your issues and help foster personal growth.
In our sessions, you’ll find space to:
Explore what’s been going on beneath the surface
Identify unhelpful patterns that may be holding you back
Develop healthier coping strategies
Reconnect with your values and priorities
Set clear, respectful boundaries
Gain perspective and clarity on your next steps
My approach is integrative, meaning I draw on different therapeutic models together with my own insights from diverse work settings, to meet your individual needs. This could mean looking at ways of managing your stress, mindfulness or using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques to reframe your thought processes and help instil change.
You are always at the heart of the process and I will be led by you at a pace that feels right for you.
